Installation

Step 1: Purchase and Download

  1. Purchase a license from our website
  2. Download the plugin ZIP file
  3. You’ll receive your license key via email

Step 2: Install the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin
  2. Navigate to Plugins → Add New
  3. Click Upload Plugin
  4. Choose the downloaded ZIP file
  5. Click Install Now
  6. Click Activate Plugin

Step 3: Activate Your License

  1. Navigate to Tools → WebP Converter
  2. Enter your license key
  3. Click Activate License
  4. Your license will be validated automatically

Getting Started

First-Time Setup

  1. Go to Tools → WebP Converter
  2. Review the default settings:
  • Quality: 80 (recommended starting point)
  • Delete Originals: Unchecked (keep originals initially)
  1. Click Convert Images to WebP Now
  2. Wait for the conversion to complete
  3. Review the summary report

Recommended Settings

For Best Quality:

  • Quality: 85-95
  • Keep original files: Yes

For Maximum Compression:

  • Quality: 60-75
  • Keep original files: No (after testing)

For Balanced Results:

  • Quality: 80
  • Keep original files: Yes (initially)

Usage Guide

Converting Existing Images

  1. Navigate to Tools → WebP Converter
  2. Set your desired quality (10-100)
  3. Choose whether to delete original files
  4. Click Convert Images to WebP Now
  5. Monitor progress in the browser
  6. Review the conversion summary

Automatic Conversion

New images uploaded to your Media Library are automatically converted using your saved settings:

  1. Upload an image through WordPress Media Library
  2. The plugin automatically converts it to WebP
  3. The WebP version is used throughout your site
  4. Original file is kept or deleted based on your settings

Quality Settings Explained

  • 10-30: Maximum compression, lower quality (not recommended)
  • 40-60: High compression, acceptable quality for thumbnails
  • 70-85: Balanced compression and quality (recommended)
  • 86-100: Higher quality, less compression (best for photos)

Managing Converted Images

  • View Conversion Status: Check the Media Library for WebP indicators
  • Revert Conversion: If you kept originals, you can restore them
  • Re-convert: Run the converter again with different settings

Troubleshooting

Images Not Converting

Problem: Conversion fails or images are skipped

Solutions:

  • Check that your server has GD or Imagick installed
  • Verify WebP support is enabled (contact your host)
  • Check file permissions on uploads directory
  • Review error messages in the conversion summary

Quality Issues

Problem: Converted images look poor quality

Solutions:

  • Increase quality setting (try 85-90)
  • Keep original files enabled
  • Test with a few images first
  • Check your server’s image processing capabilities

Missing Images

Problem: Images not displaying after conversion

Solutions:

  • Check that database updates completed
  • Verify file permissions
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Check if original files were accidentally deleted

License Activation Issues

Problem: License key won’t activate

Solutions:

  • Verify you’re using the correct license key
  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure your site can reach our license server

Advanced Usage

Custom Quality Per Image Type

While the plugin uses global settings, you can:

  1. Convert images in batches with different quality settings
  2. Use the “Skip already converted” option
  3. Re-convert specific images by deleting their WebP versions
